Episode #94: In Which Halloween Is Not Mentioned, Not Even Once

Saturday, October 25th, 2014

Renaissance soprano and lute to start, and Space: 1999 to finish, just like every other week. We have some great instrumentals, and we have Brian Wilson, Tony Bennett, Petula Clark, and Lady Gaga (not all together, not all at the same time). Songs by women and girls, a little ukulele, several cover tunes, and Barry Manilow is on the program twice. Plus gangsters and Stan Freberg. We say this to spare you the trouble of reading the playlist, but we don’t think anyone actually reads these intros anyway. It’s crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide.

Your turn. Please download and listen to us play DJ.

Episode #93: We’ve Got Your Number, Right

Saturday, October 18th, 2014

Yeah, we got your pop music this week, heavy doses from the 1950s and 1960s, but we still manage to sneak in a little movie music and TV music plus music from the actual calendar year in which we are now living. Cover tunes! There’s also music by people who are no longer here to know that we’re playing them, some Bob, some B.I.G., some Latin Japanese music, and you’ll hear an operatic soprano in there. We have a heartbreakingly sad song by Glen Campbell, we have Marilyn Monroe (never played her before), we have lollipops, and we have a little more still.

Listen, tell your friends, join the Facebook group, send us mail, have a good time. You deserve it.

Episode #92: Teenage Wasteland

Saturday, October 11th, 2014

This week’s program starts with a beautiful harp duet and ends with some more great Supermarionation music. In between you can hear an actual current pop hit plus some you-heard-it-here-first originals.  But we also play some covers, novelty”songs, odd duets, a song that has one of our names in it, and some new and old country (ish). There’s indie pop, Mantovani, soul, rock, Latin, and more. And we talk about it! We just can’t shut up about it.

We hate to brag—really, really hate to—but this episode is a very good one.
